Costs recovered from blockage crimes

Recovering hundreds of thousands of pounds from badly behaved inmates

PROJECT INFO

On behalf of Severn Trent, we’ve collected over £250,000 from the HM Prison Service to pay for the cost of clearing blockages – or the damage to nearby wastewater assets – caused by the wrong things being allowed to escape down loos, drains, and plugholes.

We worked with our Severn Trent colleagues to create incident storyboards that bring to life how assets like pumping stations were failing due to the volume of items getting into the sewers from inmates. From excessive quantities of J cloths to burner phones found in the pipes!
